Deniseea Taylor is a mixologist and cocktail consultant who teaches what she laughingly refers to as ‘drunk black history’. She curates a cocktail menu inspired by black history, the foods, people and culture of African American’s past and present.

Her New Orleans speakeasy Good Trouble, named after political civil rights activist John Lewis is a space for her to invite guests to learn about the cultural influences and achievements of black people to the drinks industry as we know it today. “People don’t learn if they feel like something’s being stuffed down their throat, so I made it palatable by storytelling and not lecturing, because storytelling helps form an emotional connection.”
